What does it mean if I get an offline alarm?
An offline alarm refers to a network connectivity issue at the network gateway interface. This alarm is alerting the user that the Blue Pillar Aurora application cannot communicate with the network gateway interface. This not related to a particular piece of equipment, but rather the gateway the equipment is connected to. The Blue Pillar Gateway Reference Guide is useful literature in troubleshooting this alarm.
- The gateway should be visually inspected for power and to ensure the network cable is plugged in.
- Powering down and repowering the gateway may correct some issues. The process described in detail in the Blue Pillar Gateway Reference Guide
- If the network cable is plugged in, network activity should evident as described in the Blue Pillar Gateway Reference Guide.
- If network activity is not observed, the network cable should be inspected to ensure it is correctly installed in the data closet and connected to the correct port.
- If the Blue Pillar Gateway is showing network activity but the alarm is still present, the facility IT team should be contacted and asked to check the switch and port. They will normally ask for the device IP and MAC address. This information can be found on the gateway device itself or on the Blue Pillar drawings for your facility. If unable to locate this information, please contact Blue Pillar Customer Support.
